RAKESH-CHAURASIARakesh Chaurasia is the nephew of legendary flute maestro Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia and bears the dexterous fingering technique and breath control unique to his uncle’s style.  Despite his experimental work and constant demands of “Bollywood”, Rakesh has never deviated from his main goal of becoming a full-fledged classical musician. He has increasingly accompanied Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia on the international classical stage that has helped to hone his skills further, appearing regularly in prominent festivals like WOMAD festival in Athens, ‘Festivals of India’ in Russia, Japan, USA and Europe.

He has been invited to perform solo at major events within India and abroad such as the Festival of Saint-Denis in Paris, Leicester International Music Festival in England and an invitation to perform for the BBC in celebration Her Majesty the Queen Elizabeth’s Silver Jubilee.  He has recently received an Indian Music Academy Award by Honourable President of India Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam in 2007, Aditya Birla Kalakiran Puraskar in 2008 and Guru Shishya Award in 2011.

Pandit Abhijit Banerjee is one of the pioneering disciples of his illustrious guru, the late Jnan Prakash Ghosh. A very successful recorded soloist and a sought after accompanist, he has played alongside nearly all the top ranking luminaries of Indian classical music including Pt. Ravi Shankar, late Pt. Nikhil Banerjee, Begum Parween Sultana, Pt. Jasraj, Pt. Shiv Kumar Sharma, Dr. Balamurali Krishna to name a few. His crossover work includes collaborations with musicians such as Ry Cooder, Larry Corryell and Trilok Gurtu.  Abhijit founded his own touring ensemble TARANG performing his original compositions, and released a CD of the same title. Apart from being a member of the Raga Jazz group, The Arohi Ensemble, Abhijit has founded & established Dhwani Academy of Percussion in Los Angeles, New York , Singapore and Calcutta attracting talented students from around the world.
